Definition
         Diabetes  is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia and excessive blood glucose concentration due to a glucose metabolism disorder. Glucose accumulates in the blood and can not go into the cells and tissues to provide energy. Glucose needs the help of a hormone produced by the pancreas, insulin. If there is a problem, for example, the pancreas does not produce enough insulin then the insulin is not sufficient to carry all the glucose in the tissues and cells of the body, thereby to concentrate very high amount of glucose in  blood.







SYMPTOMS


1. Asymptomatic

2. Coincidentally

• tired
• blurred vision
• frequent urination (especially at night)
• itching
• inability wound healing
• increased thirst
• intense hunger
• rapid weight loss
•  tingling in hands and feet
• Frequent infections of the skin, urinary tract and vagina


         People with diabetes may experience increased urination and loss of many fluids can cause dehydration, dried mucous, and abnormal and dry tongue. Characteristic is the Kussmaul breathing consisting of deep and protracted with suspirate breathing and the exhalation of acetone, blurred intellectual, decreased responsiveness to stimuli, and drowsiness may even fall into a coma if ketoxeosi.1


TYPES OF DIABETES

1. Type 1
• Type 1 diabetes is the case wherein pagreas not produce any insulin. It occurs mainly in children and young adults.
2. Type 2
• Type 2 diabetes produce insulin but not enough to meet the needs of the organization. This type of diabetes occurs mostly in adults and overweight people. . According to the International Diabetes Federation (Internations Diabetes Federation) Type 2 diabetes is the most common 90% - 95%.

4. latent autoimmune diabetes of adults
5. secondary diabetes

  • Usually occurs at ages 45
  • Obese people
  • Women with polycystic ovary syndrome
  • Genetic predisposition
  • Background cardiovascular event
  • Hypertension

  • Low levels of HDL - Cholesterol
