🌐 The Digital Double Edge: Internet Addiction and its Profound Impact on Health The Internet, the greatest tool in human history, began as a revolutionary source of knowledge, communication, and freedom. In the modern era, it has transformed into a Digital Ocean, where navigation can be both beneficial and destructive. While connectivity offers countless advantages, excessive, compulsive, and uncontrolled use has given rise to a new, serious form of dependency: Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) . IAD is not merely about spending too much time online. It is a condition where Internet use becomes the dominant activity in an individual's life, causing significant distress and functional impairment in all areas of daily life: personal, social, academic, and professional. Although it has not yet been fully included as an official diagnosis in the main diagnostic manual DSM-5 (with the exception of "Internet Gaming Disorder"), the clinical and research community recognizes i...

Vocational guidance
and Mental Health
Mmmmm!
What would you like to be if you grow up? What profession would you like to do?
Mothers and all the social environment of a person asking a child what he would
like to become when he grows up? All children
dream to become doctors, others lawyers, others follow parents' standards, but
despise the profession of his father, mother some children want to deal with something different, some others
prefer to do a profession which will be accepted by society, other children
follow to do what they really love. Children
at a young age don’t know what they want to do later in life, what profession
they want to get involved, usually influenced by their surroundings.
Children
become teenagers, approaching the age of 17 years, reaching the end of an
effective education and they have to
choose what to do with their lives, are they going to take a further study
of something, are they going to go to a university or a college, are they
going to go abroad, maybe in a private
school? maybe learn some art? What What to do; I find it hard to decide, I do
not know which profession would be better for me? What to choose female or male profession? What are my criterion to choose the work that
ia going to do? Is this job going to
bring me money in the future? Will it prevail in the fierce competition
in the labor market? And if you do not like the job what I do? I'll study for
second degree? How easy is studying then and take diplomas, is my family able
to afford all this costs of my studies to continue for so many years? And if I do not have money can I work very hard and also continue studies? So
many obligations !!!! I would not go out at all? Thoughts, thoughts, concerns
for a really responsible teenager
anxious about his future and his professional rehabilitation
All
people in the phase of puberty spend this troublesome stage of specific
considerations outlined above, but nevertheless what can I do to put things in
order. Career guidance is very difficult choice and a bad choice can follow us
throughout our lives and then we might regret.
First, the first
question someone has to ask himself is by what criterion he wants to follow his
profession? He wants the work to definitely generate profits for financial reasons?
Or doing a job that he likes and loves without some kind of financial rewards. One would say
that he would like to do a job that he likes, loves and will have good earnings from it. Perhaps
most young people responded positively to the third case, however, but life
sometimes brings huge surprises, difficult and far from the dreams of young
people, the majority of people do jobs they do not like at all simply because
they have a decent wage to grow their families.
When we are
young, free, without family responsibilities we are interested to do only
things that we love but when come time we have our own families and many
obligations and responibilities the families then youngs say "I chose to study something else so I can have some bread to eat!!!! »
Young people should
take advice and informations about their plans of their future it plays a huge
role in the new options, it would be good to consult their family, learn from
the experience of people who already work, you may speak with a specialist
social worker or a psychologist is needed, because again if someone doing a job
that mentally can not do anything again many problems arise.
The
prosperity of a society depends first of all to appoint the right person in the
right job position to have efficiency and productivity. Every man when choosing
a profession should first ask himself or herself "Can I do this job? I
have the mental stamina to become a doctor or nurse can I be strong seeing blood, germs in road accidents should I treat ?
Am I able to do it? Am I able to handle
it on so huge responsibilities? "Each profession has its own course of
questions to which answers you should give to yourself. You must answer to
yourself what you want .......... a profession that will generate profits or a
profession that I will bring social prestige?
You want to
become a dancer, have you got the inclination
to become a dancer? Do you have the
body, exercise, mood, work hard every day?
You want to become a musician ....... for example, can you withstand playing 6 hours a day
musical instrument and often second or third? You want to become informatics
............ ..? Are you able to be in front of a screen 10 hours a day programming?, and most of the time to work in
4-5 computers together in front of five screens?
Think ... ..can you .........? You want
to become teacher ... ..? Is it possible fo you reading books for hours? I brought only some
of the examples, just to show you a way how to think secretly, try to ask
yourself and to elicit the response that will lead you to the most appropriate
options for you. Certainly when you choose your profession you will follow
yourself and the decision will be ONLY yours. You will be the only responsible
for your choices and the profession you will choose.
In
Greece if in future you regret about the profession you studied , there is a
second opportunity to change occupation to study something else in a 23 years
old age but still only 5% hsve success in
a second studies field with a qualifying exam is very difficult The
economic problems starting, can your family afford all these years of your
studies? For how long? You have to start working for a living. You're young 23
years old but life goes so fast that you should not be wasting a minute.
Now that
you've got all your paperwork from the university, your degrees, your diplomaw,
your masters, your foreign languages
degrees and other potentially the labor market needs, you have everything in
your hand and you come to post your resume and CV and see another mountain
before you. 100,000 graduates leave their resumes and CVs to the same jobs with
you, come out notices and you see 100,000 applications to hire the 19, waiting
to find a job can last 10 years if find some work will surely be a contract
five months, eight months or for 1 year it
sounds great, but not ideal you got just a contract, you will be fired, no
permanence, and after two more years of waiting in the offices of OAED office
for unemployments.
Thank you for reading my article.
